"Hey Buster! We better get going"
Lilli shouted as she ran towards her boyfriend.
"Hi Lilli! Where are we going?" Buster asked.
"Don't you remember - we are going to have a picnic with Bugbear
and Boxtroll - come on!"
"Okay - sounds good. I hope we have lots to eat. I'm starving"
said Buster as he got up.

"This will be fun!" said Buster. "And these cookies
look really good, too."
"Yes, picnics really are fun! And Buster, don't even think about
eating any cookies until we are at the picnic place!" Lilli warned.
She knows how much Buster likes cookies.

"Wake up Boxtroll! We have been invited to a picnic with Lilli
and Buster today" Bugbear hollered.
"Hmm-fm - hi Bugbear, I'll nap just a little longer, okay?"
BoxTroll mumbled, yawning and stretching.
"No more sleeping now, come along! We have to get the food ready"
Bugbear said, then tickled Boxtrolls toes just a little bit to get him
going.
"I love picnics" said BoxTroll.

Bugbear and Boxtroll were still busy with last minute preparations.
"Stop yawning, Boxtroll, and help me make these Bugbear cookies"
said Bugbear.
"Yumm.....Bugbear cookies....we better make lots, I'm really
hungry" Boxtroll said. "Do you know where we are meeting them?"
he asked.
"Yes - they sent us a map with the invitation" Bugbear
explained.

Meanwhile, deep in the forest, a few trouble making Mudhats were
just hanging around.
"Listen guys! I feel like doing something really nasty today.
Whaddya think?" said Sneaky, the leader of the Mudhats.
"Yeah - let's catch a couple of furbrains and give'em
a hard time!" Yucky agreed.
"Hey, great idea! Why don't we drag some trolls to our favorite
mudhole and roll'em in mud and stuff...." Stuck said.

The Mudhats had only roamed around a little while when they saw
something very interesting.
"Hey lookee here, Sneaky - what have we got here!" Yucky
Said.
"Keep your voice down, you stupid excuse for a Mudhat!"
yelled Sneaky.
"Okay guys - I have a plan! Lookit, they're gonna have a picnic
- right! I think we're gonna help them eat all that terrible Troll food
they're bringing! Let's go" commanded Sneaky.

Lilli And Buster arrived a bit early to the picnic.
"I'll just taste one, okay?" said Buster reaching for the
cookie bag.
"Oh no, you don't" Lilli said sternly. "We'll wait
until Bugbear and Boxtroll are here. Anyways, the cookies are for desert."
"But, Lilli I'm starving!" Buster pleaded. He tried to
look very hungry.

Just then, something terrible happened.
"I got him!" yelled Sneaky.
"No, I got him!" shouted Stuck.
"And I got her! We're here to ruin your picnic you furbrained
Trolls" Yucky said.
"What do ya wanna do with these furballs, Sneaky?" Stuck
asked.
"You are ripping me apart, you goons! Let go! And let go of
Lilli!" Buster yelled, as he tried to kick away the Mudhats.
"Hey guys, look at all that food" said Stuck.

Bugbear and Boxtroll arrived at the picnic place.
"What's this?" said Boxtroll
"I don't know! I don't see Lilli and Buster anywhere" Bugbear
said.
"They wouldn't make a mess like this."
"I think that they had some uninvited guests, let's take a look
around."

It didn't take long for the two troll friends to find out what had
happened to Lilli and Buster.
"Oh dear! This is terrible" said Bugbear. "Look, they
are tied up - and I can see at least three Mudhats!"
"Shh, let's be careful" said Boxtroll. "I think I
can handle this" he added.

The nasty Mudhats tied up Lilli and Buster so tight that they could
hardly breathe.
"You stupid fluffbrains! This should teach you something! See,
you should have invited us to your stupid picnic" Stuck said taunting
the two trolls.
"Pretty good stuff, even if it is troll food!" said Yucky.
"Yeah, of course mud cookies would have been better. Hey tootsie!
You gotta learn to bake mud cookies, heh heh!" Sneaky hollered at
Lilli.

Boxtroll and Bugbear took the Mudhats completely by suprise.
"Run - it's the blue box!" yelled Sneaky.
"Ouch!" screamed Yucky as Boxtroll grabbed him by the hair.
"That's it Boxtroll! Let them have it" Bugbear shouted.
"Way to go!"
"You dirty Mudhats should learn to behave better" Boxtroll
lectured.

"From now on you better leave my friends alone!" Boxtroll
shouted at the fleeing Mudhats.
"I'm getting out of here!" Sneaky yelled.
"This was your stupid idea" Yucky yelled at Sneaky.
"Help - I'm stuck" hollered Stuck who had gotten himself
stuck again.
"Wow, that was some fight! I'm exhausted. And, Boxtroll, you
were great" Bugbear said.
"Well thank you, Bugbear" Boxtroll said modestly."
I can't understand why those Mudhats won't leave us trolls alone."

Lilli and Buster were exhausted with worry. They had actually fallen
asleep and had not heard the commotion.
"Hey, yohoo Lilli and Buster! Wake up!" Bugbear hollered
in his usual cheerful style.
"Everything is fine now" Bugbear explained. "There
was a big fight but we, I mean Boxtroll, chased the Mudhats away."

"These Bugbear cookies are really good" said Buster."
And I was very hungry, weren't you Lilli?" he asked.
"Oh yes - and this turned out to be a wonderful picnic after
all, thanks to you two, Bugbear and Boxtroll" she said.
"It's okay" said Boxtroll. "I don't like the Mudhats
anyways, they are such trouble makers. But I love these Bugbear cookies!"
"I can't think of anything nicer than having a picnic with my
best friends" Bugbear said, and everyone agreed.
